The Northern Film Festival is celebrating its 45th edition with a focus on Northern European cinema, under the theme "Lightmakers and Night Watchmen." The opening film is "A Light That Never Goes Out" by Lauri-Matti Parppei. The festival, which takes place from November 5 to 9, 2025, in Leeuwarden, will showcase 30 films in the "Nordic Focus" program and 10 recent works in the "Noorderkroon" program. A special guest is Icelandic director Benedikt Erlingsson. The festival will conclude with a film ball and live music by DJ Ko Kliko.
