Hungary took center stage at the International Classic Film Market (MIFC) in Lyon, with a focus on the National Film Institute (NFI), which, despite the lack of a national cinema, has carried out an impressive restoration and digitization of Hungarian cinema. Since 2017, the NFI has restored over 350 films, making them available on the streaming platform Filmio and an online school catalog. Approximately 30 films are restored annually, ranging from silent films to works from after 1989. The system now functions like a well-oiled machine, with collaboration between archives, labs, and funds at its core.
