Cato Kusters has won the 2025 Knack Focus Jo Röpcke Award for her film "Julian," based on the book by Fleur Pierets. The film, starring Nina Meurisse and Laurence Roothooft, follows a couple who marry in countries where same-sex marriage is legal, until illness interrupts their journey. Film critic Dave Mestdach praised the film for its empathetic treatment of gay rights and illness. The award was presented during the 52nd edition of Film Fest Ghent.
