Nepalese filmmakers have filed a complaint with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences against the selection of "Anjila" as Nepal's Oscar submission. They allege procedural violations and conflicts of interest in the selection process. However, "Anjila" director Milan Chams alleges that rivals, including Samundra Bhatta of "Gunyo Cholo," offered up to $100,000 to have his film removed from the race. The controversy arose after "Anjila" was announced as Nepal's submission during a national crisis with a shortened application period.
