The opening night of the Netherlands Film Festival ended rather abruptly on Friday evening when, around 11:00 PM, during the closing of the opening film, "Voor de meisjes" (For the Girls), someone became unwell. During the dramatic final scene, someone in the Stadsschouwburg in Utrecht called for a doctor because one of the audience members had become unwell. To allow the doctor and the first responders equipped with an AED to do their work properly, the organizers decided to evacuate the auditorium, which held approximately 830 guests, during the closing credits, as per protocol.
