At the San Sebastián Film Festival, the European Producers Club and more than 20 other producer organizations expressed their concerns about the European Commission's proposed AgoraEU regulation. They warn that this regulation could represent a risky turning point for independent audiovisual creation in Europe. The new MEDIA+ component would undermine the very essence of the Creative Europe – MEDIA program, which has supported cultural diversity and independent production for three decades. The producers are calling for independence to be maintained as a prerequisite for funding and for clear support mechanisms.
