After graduating from the Film Academy in 1972, Carel Donck introduced himself as a screenwriter and was approached by Pim de la Parra to collaborate on a rewrite of the film "My Nights with Susan, Olga, Albert, Julie, Piet, and Sandra." He and Pim rewrote the screenplay together, and they enjoyed an intensive collaboration, including social gatherings and brainstorming sessions. Despite the rejection from the Production Fund and a lack of commercial success, Carel values the experience and friendship with Pim, which significantly boosted his career and self-confidence.
