Milan van Helvoort, a graduate of the St. Joost School of Art & Design, discusses his graduation film "De afhaal" (The Takeaway) in an interview with Filmkrant. The film, screening at the Netherlands Film Festival, explores themes of identity and discrimination through the story of Mino, a white Dutch boy who works in a Chinese restaurant and is wrongly called a "Chinese." Van Helvoort, whose mother is Korean but raised by Dutch people, draws inspiration from personal experiences and the impact of COVID on racism against Asians.
