Kris van Melle, a graduate of the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, will present his coming-of-age drama "Zie, zo" (See, Like This) at the Netherlands Film Festival in late September. The film follows fourteen-year-old Juul, who struggles with her gender identity and is forced by her mother to conform to a traditional feminine image. The film highlights the discrepancy between how Juul feels and how others see her, and is inspired by Van Melle's personal experiences. "Zie, zo" will be shown as part of the Student Competition.
