The short film "Beyond Silence" by director Marnie Blok has won the award for best short film at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. The film, which marks Blok's directorial debut, deals with the theme of transgressive behavior. In the film, deaf student Eva, with the help of her sister as an interpreter, tries to file a complaint about a professor, but encounters resistance from her dean. The festival, founded by Robert De Niro and others, is a prominent place for independent films.
