Three Dutch short animation films by emerging talents, directed by Husam Zakaraya, Leticia van Neerven and Naomi Noir, have been selected for the Graduation Competition at the Annecy Animation Festival. Zakaraya's "REM Sleep" addresses the human condition against the backdrop of the Middle East and is inspired by the 2013 Tadamon massacre. Van Neerven's "The Virtue of Voice" explores the origins of criminal behavior and encourages open discussion. Noir's "Mother's Child" shows the challenges of a mother caring for her disabled son, inspired by personal experiences.
