Minister of Culture Eppo Bruins has proposed plans to reform the public broadcasting system, in which the NTR is to merge with the NOS or other broadcasters in new broadcasting house structures. This follows criticism of earlier proposals to abolish the NTR. The reform, led by Meindert Landsmeer of 3Rivers, aims to make the broadcasters more effective and cost-efficient by consolidating them into four or five broadcasting houses without members. The House of Representatives supported the continued existence of the NTR.
