The film iHostage, based on a true hostage situation in the Amsterdam Apple Store, has become the most watched Netflix film in the Netherlands within three days and is now also the most popular non-English language film worldwide on Netflix. Despite mixed reviews, with criticism from the Varagids and FilmTotaal among others, and low scores on MovieMeter and Rotten Tomatoes, the film by director Bobby Boermans continues to attract many viewers. In the first week after its release, iHostage was streamed 15.1 million times worldwide and is number 1 in 31 countries.
