The Dutch film "Rietland" by Sven Bresser has been selected for the competition of Semaine de la Critique in Cannes, a first in 27 years. This competition, founded in 1962, focuses on first and second films. "Rietland", Bresser's debut film, tells the story of a reed cutter who discovers the body of a murdered girl. The last Dutch film in this competition was "De Poolse Bruid" by Karim Traïda, which won the Grand Rail d'Or.
