In 2024, France produced a record 309 films, almost the same as in 2021, according to a report from the National Film Board. Investment in films rose to €1.44 billion, with a significant contribution from streamers such as Netflix and Disney, which together pre-financed $83.7 million. Big-budget films increased, with eight productions above €20 million, including Pathé's "The Count of Monte Cristo" and Studiocanal's "Beating Hearts." However, there was a decline in films directed by women, with less than 27% of films directed by female directors.
