India’s media and entertainment sector is set to reach $29.4 billion in revenue by 2024, according to the annual FICCI-EY report. For the first time, digital media surpassed television as the largest segment, accounting for 32% of total revenue. Advertising revenue grew 8.1% to $14.9 billion, with digital platforms such as e-commerce and social media leading the growth. The filmed entertainment sector released 1,823 films. Despite infrastructure challenges and declining filmgoers, South Indian films such as “Pushpa 2: The Rule” continued to dominate box office revenues.
