A report from the European Audiovisual Observatory analyses the financing of European live-action fiction films from 2022, based on 713 productions. The study shows that 47% of the financing comes from public funds and production incentives. Public funding is the largest source, contributing 27%, followed by production incentives at 20%. Financing structures vary greatly by market size, with smaller markets relying more on national and regional support. The average budget of a European fiction film was €3.03 million in 2022.
