Paid streaming has outpaced public television in Europe for the first time, according to a study by Ampere Analysis. Streaming revenues, driven mainly by US giants such as Netflix, are expected to grow 37% to €38.4 billion in 2029. Netflix remains the market leader, thanks in part to an ad-supported subscription tier and expansion into live events. Public broadcasters, which still account for 43% of all TV production in Europe, are under financial pressure and must develop their streaming services and consider strategic partnerships.
