In Naomi Noir's animated short film "Mother's Child", selected for Berlinale Shorts, main character Mary struggles with an impenetrable and Kafkaesque care system as a 24/7 caregiver for her adult son. The film shows her overwhelming stress and the harsh realities of her life, including the influence of her environment. Noir, who herself grew up with a disabled brother, chose animation to explore the deep emotions and surreal aspects of Mary's experiences.
