Roel Oude Nijhuis, the Netherlands Film Commissioner for almost a year now, emphasizes the advantages for international productions to film in the Netherlands. He succeeded Bas van der Ree and previously worked at production company Halal, now 100%. Oude Nijhuis focuses less on blockbusters, but more on medium-sized projects with budgets between 5 and 15 million euros. The Netherlands Film Commission recently signed partnerships with the UK and Indonesia to stimulate co-productions and cultural exchanges. Oude Nijhuis also emphasizes the importance of film festivals such as the one in Rotterdam for networking and project development.
