Cate Blanchett launched the new Displacement Film Fund at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, aimed at financing short films by and about refugees and displaced people. Blanchett, who has been a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador for almost ten years, emphasized the need to bring these often invisible and stigmatized stories to a wider audience. The fund will start by financing up to five short films, which will premiere at IFFR next year. The focus on short films offers filmmakers the opportunity to be creative and experimental.
