At the Sundance Film Festival, European short films and co-productions won the most awards. The British documentary "The Flowers Stand Silently, Witnessing" by Theo Panagopoulos won the Short Film Grand Jury Prize. The film, produced by the Scottish Documentary Institute, tackles themes of colonialism and history through archival footage. Other winners include Chheangkea with "Grandma Nai Who Played Favorites" and Natalia León with "Como si la tierra se las hubiera tragado".
