Michiel ten Horn's film "Fabula", the opening film of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, tells the story of a clumsy, egotistical gangster who comes to insight through a series of events, similar to 'A Christmas Carol'. In this crime comedy, Jos, played by Fedja van Huêt, gets involved in a failed drug deal and discovers that he is going to be a grandfather, which motivates him to change his life. Ten Horn, who also wrote the script, combines dark humor with a philosophical undertone and strives to tell a European story with characters who each deserve their own film.
