Director Frank Scheffer's documentary "Half Moon", which will premiere at the IFFR, focuses on Syrian clarinetist and composer Kinan Azmeh. Azmeh, who has lived in New York since 2001, cannot return to Damascus due to the uprising in 2011. "Half Moon" is the third part of a planned tetralogy, the first film of which was "Gozaran – Time Passing" and the second "Inner Landscape". The documentary highlights Azmeh's musical collaborations, including performances with Yo-Yo Ma and Dima Orsho. Scheffer emphasises that music is a form of art that touches and shapes people.
