The expected decline in cinema attendance in 2024 was not too bad thanks to the success of Dutch films and sequels, with Inside Out 2 as the frontrunner. According to the Dutch Association of Cinemas and Film Theaters, 29,348,436 tickets were sold, a decrease of 7% compared to the previous year. Total revenue fell by 8% to €311,687,103. The Hollywood strike in 2023 affected the supply, but Dutch films such as Loverboys: Emotions Out and Verliefd op Bali helped compensate for the decline. The market share of Dutch films rose to 17%. The sector is optimistic about 2025, despite concerns about energy costs and staff shortages.
