Film producer Gijs Versluys, known for his work with directors such as Paul Verhoeven and Frans Weisz, died on December 17, 2024 at the age of 88. Versluys, who played a crucial role in the Dutch film industry, won a Golden Calf for best film for "Flesh+Blood" (1985). He was also involved in the success of "Soldaat van Oranje" (1977) and encouraged Verhoeven's move to Hollywood. Versluys founded the Talent Fund to support screenwriters and had his own production company, Riverside Pictures. His last film project was "Leedvermaak" (1989, Frans Weisz).
