On 1 January 2025, a new film law will come into force in Germany, following approval by the German parliament. This law, an important pillar of a comprehensive reform, ensures the continuation of the support of the German Federal Film Fund (FFA). The law introduces faster and more transparent funding procedures and strengthens the self-administration of the FFA. In addition, screenwriters and directors will now receive reference funds. In addition, the funding quota for the German Federal Film Fund (DFFF) and the German Motion Picture Fund (GMPF) will be increased to thirty percent of German production costs.
