The Dutch tragicomic film De Terugreis, directed by Jelle de Jonge, has dropped out of the running for an Oscar. Despite winning the Golden Calf for best film, it did not make the shortlist for the International Feature Film category. The film, starring Martin van Waardenberg and Leny Breederveld, tells the story of an elderly couple on a trip to Spain. Dutch short films such as Wander to Wonder by Nina Gantz and I'm Not a Robot by Victoria Warmerdam remain in the running for the Oscars, which will be awarded on March 2, 2025.
