Filmmaker Jelle de Jonge, known for his successful films and TV series, has launched his latest film, De Z van Zus, a comic road film about two estranged sisters, Rianne (Elise Schaap) and Juliette (Bracha van Doesburgh). The film, which has been in cinemas since 7 November, tells the story of the sisters who, despite their differences, must bring their father's ashes to the Spanish coast together. De Jonge, who also wrote the film himself, emphasises the development of the characters and the mix of humour and awkward situations. The film was inspired by conversations with Elise Schaap during the shoot of Weg van jou and marks the first time that Schaap and Van Doesburgh contribute as creative producers, resulting in an authentic and humorous portrayal of the sisters.
