Variety has announced its 10 Directors to Watch for 2025, including Coralie Fargeat for “The Substance,” Malcolm Washington for “The Piano Lesson,” and Halina Reijn for “Babygirl.” These directors were selected for their unique style and strong creative vision. “The Substance” stood out after premiering at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, while “The Piano Lesson” and “Babygirl” have also received international acclaim. The list, which has been spotlighting emerging talent annually since 1997, also includes Magnus van Horn and Tom Nesher. The full roster will be profiled in an upcoming print issue of Variety, running during the Palm Springs International Film Festival in January 2025.
