The Frisian Film Fund, the second regional film fund in the Netherlands after Limburg, is being set up with the aim of producing more Frisian films. Joris Hoebe of New Nordic Wave emphasises the importance of this fund, given the limited attention paid to Frisian films by producers and broadcasters outside of Friesland. The fund will not only focus on the Frisian language, but also on the landscape and cultural identity of Friesland. With an expected annual budget of 3 to 5 tonnes, the fund aims to provide a greater economic stimulus for the region by supporting short films.
