During the Cinekid Industry Forum 2024, researcher Rikke Flodin presented the results of a survey among 374 children from twelve European countries about their viewing habits and film preferences. The survey, conducted by KIDS Regio and Will & Agency, emphasizes the diversity in film experiences among children and the need for non-patronizing content that connects with their world. Children appreciate films with recognizable characters, real emotions and adventure, but are also open to surprising elements. The findings suggest that filmmakers need to push boundaries and take into account the rapid development and media literacy of children.
