Katja Lubina has been the new secretary of the Dutch Screenwriters & Directors (DS&D), an organization that represents the interests of directors and screenwriters, since September 1. She succeeds Maarten Treurniet and comes from the legal sector. Lubina, who lived in Los Angeles for a year and grew up in the German Ruhr area, has a strong affinity with film and culture. She obtained her PhD with a dissertation on the restitution of looted art and is interested in the intersection of law and culture. Lubina emphasizes the importance of representing the interests of makers in the film and television sector and notes that film is a 'collective art' in which different elements come together. She is impressed by the drive of people in the sector.
