In the International Short Film Competition, with participants from 12 countries, Shuli Huang’s Goodbye First Love won the Award for Best International Short, with a prize of €5,000. The film, a melancholic tale of a reunion in Frankfurt between two old friends after ten years, was praised for its emotional depth and genuine passion for cinema, despite the limited resources with which it was made. Huang and his friend Simu shot the film without a script or tripod in just five hours.
