Actor Hugo Koolschijn has died at the age of 77, the International Theater Amsterdam has confirmed. Koolschijn, born in 1946 in The Hague, had been a permanent member of the ITA ensemble and its predecessor Toneelgroep Amsterdam since 1987. He gained fame in the 1970s with the Hague theater group De Appel. Koolschijn played in classical works by Chekhov and Shakespeare, among others, and appeared in films and series such as "Soldaat van Oranje" and "Flikken Rotterdam". He also wrote his own plays and an autobiography entitled "Voorstelling".
