In 2023, €13 million of the feature film fund budget was allocated to mainstream films, €10 million to crossover films and €11 million to arthouse films. Between 2020 and 2023, 40% of the feature film budget went to mainstream films, 33% to crossover films and 27% to arthouse films. Mainstream films benefit from both the Film Production Incentive and selective support, with six films receiving €6.1 million in 2023. The Film Fund, supported by government funding and policy, promotes film culture and stimulates investments, including contributions from international streaming services to Dutch productions.
