The Netherlands Film Festival opened with "Witte Flits", the feature film debut by Laura Hermanides, based on a true euthanasia story. The film, co-written by Roelof-Jan Minneboo, follows Rick, played by Sanne den Hartogh, who undergoes euthanasia after years of mental suffering. The story highlights the struggle of his parents, Aagje (Renée Soutendijk) and Toon (Raymond Thiry), with his decision. Hermanides, known for award-winning short films and documentaries, hopes to stimulate a dialogue about euthanasia in cases of mental suffering with "Witte Flits".
