Johan Grimonprez, known for the documentary Dial HISTORY (1997), is this year's guest of honour at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), which takes place from 14 to 24 November. His work, such as Dial HISTORY (1997), will be screened in a retrospective alongside other films such as Double Take (2009) and Shadow World (2016). IDFA is also introducing two new programmes: Dead Angle, which highlights society's 'blind spot', and Spotlight on Cuba, which explores Cuba's political history through films including works by Afro-Cuban filmmaker Sara Gómez.
