Marianne Vaatstra's family has reacted with shock to the new six-part television series "Een van ons", which will be shown on CANAL+ from Thursday and is based on Vaatstra's violent death in 1999. The series, in which the victim is called Anneke, is considered 'horrible' by the family. Producer Pieter Kuijpers and director Michiel van Erp emphasise that the series is fiction, but inspired by real events. Van Erp explains that the series explores themes such as vigilantism and conspiracy thinking, with characters based on real and fictional extras.
