After studying at the Dutch Film Academy, Pim de la Parra founded the film magazine Skoop in 1964 and formed Scorpio Films with Wim Verstappen. Their breakthrough came with Blue Movie (1971), one of the most visited Dutch films. De la Parra also wrote the screenplay for Obsessions (1969) with Martin Scorsese. After a period in Aruba, he made a comeback in 1985 with Paul Chevrolet and the ultimate hallucination. He received several awards, including a Golden Calf pin and was appointed Officer in the Honorary Order of the Yellow Star by the President of Suriname in 2021. De la Parra died, leaving behind two daughters and two grandchildren.
