At the 81st Venice Film Festival, several short films will compete for the Orizzonti Award for Best Short Film, in which themes of tradition and modernity collide. Among the entries are Icelandic director Rúnar Rúnarsson's "O," a story about a man struggling with his past, and Oliver McGoldrick's "Three Keenings," about an actor who moonlights as a professional mourner in Ireland. Other notable works include "Marion," about Spain's only female bullfighter, and Cansu Baydar's "Almost Certainly False," about a Syrian refugee in Istanbul. The competition also includes two animations: "Shadows" and "Il burattino e la balena," which explore modern themes through unique stories.
