At the 81st Venice International Film Festival, filmmaker Jan-Willem van Ewijk presents his film Alpha, a story about a father and son trying to bond in the Alps. Shot without CGI in the Swiss and Slovenian Alps, the film shows the challenges of surviving in extreme cold. Featuring real father and son, Gijs and Reinout Scholten van Aschat, the film explores their complex relationship. The production faced challenges, including COVID and a military exercise, but was ultimately realized in collaboration with producers from the Netherlands, Switzerland and Slovenia. The film stands out for its realism and breathtaking cinematography.
