The 81st edition of the Venice Film Festival has started. Beetlejuice 2 is the opening film of the festival, which runs until 7 September. The film Babygirl by Dutch director Halina Reijn is one of the 21 films competing in the film festival this year. The film is therefore in the running for the Golden Lion, the most important award of the festival. Martin Koolhoven was the last Dutch director to be in the running for a Golden Lion in 2016, with the film Brimstone.
