After a commotion about the uneven distribution of awards during the Gala of De Ensors at the Ostend Film Festival, where few women were awarded, the board of De Ensors has decided to adjust the voting procedure. The criticism was mainly focused on the gender-neutral acting awards. In consultation with the Actors Guild and other professional organizations, it was decided that in the second round of voting only professionals from the same field may vote. This should lead to a more nuanced and professional choice of winners, with more attention to diversity in gender, ethnicity and age. The first round of voting remains unchanged.
