Meryem Çifteci, a graduate of the HKU, has transformed her personal experiences with her father's depression into the father-daughter drama Nobody at Home. Set during a holiday on Texel, the film explores the complex relationship between Isra and her depressed father Ömer, played by Çifteci's real-life father, Ali Çifteci. With a focus on honest representation of depression and the characters' Turkish background, the film emphasizes their unbreakable bond and Çifteci's desire to continue making personal, searching dramas and documentaries. Nobody at home will be shown during the student competition of the Dutch Film Festival in September.
