The 39th edition of the International Film Critics' Week during the Venice Film Festival, led by Beatrice Fiorentino, presents a selection of seven debut films from around the world, in addition to two opening and closing films and short films. Organized by the National Syndicate of Italian Film Critics, the section will take place from August 28 to September 7, 2024. The selection highlights contemporary cinema that explores disorientation and a general sense of instability. The opening film is "Planète B" by Aude Léa Rapin, a dystopian sci-fi film, and the closing film is "Little Jaffna" by Lawrence Valin, about a young police officer in the Tamil community in Paris. Among the competition films is Milad Tangshir's “Anywhere Anytime,” an Italian film about an illegal immigrant in Turin.
