Zakia Guernina has been appointed general director of VPRO, where she will succeed Lennart van der Meulen, who previously resigned from his duties due to illness and passed away, as of September 1, 2024. Together with Roel Burgman, who takes on the role of business director after having been temporary general manager, Guernina forms the new management. Guernina comes from the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences and has extensive experience in the social domain. Burgman has a background in various management and board positions within the creative sector.
