The Shalky Screenplay Prize, named after the graduation film of the young screenwriter Douwe Nagelmaker, was established in his memory. Douwe, who died in 2023 at the age of 27, won the AVROTROS screenplay prize in 2019 with his film Shalky. His parents founded the foundation to encourage young screenplay talent and to continue Douwe's ambition to improve the quality of Dutch screenplays. The prize, part of the Talent Awards Ceremony, supports the winner with €4,000.
