Belgian filmmaker Michiel Blanchart has developed his feature debut "Night Call", an action thriller set against the backdrop of the Black Lives Matter protests in Belgium. Blanchart, who drew his inspiration from daily walks through Brussels, tells the story of Mady, a young locksmith who is chased by gangsters after a wrong phone call. The film, which is represented internationally by Gaumont and will be released in the US by Magnet Releasing, avoids well-known landmarks to show an unseen side of the city. Blanchart emphasizes the combination of violence and softness in the film, supported by a soundtrack with golden oldies. After “Night Call,” Blanchart plans his English-language debut “You’re Dead Helene,” produced by Sam Raimi and TriStar Pictures, and remains committed to making films in Europe.
