The shooting of the film adaptation of the book Joe Speedboot has been halted because lead actor Daan Buringa broke his arm. Producer Frank Hoeve of Baldr Film confirms this after reporting from de Volkskrant.
Buringa plays the role of Fransje Hermans, the narrator of the story who sits in a wheelchair. The injury of 22-year-old Buringa is striking: he broke his arm while arm wrestling. The same thing happened to Fransje Hermans in Tommy Wieringa's book (photo) from 2005.
